Changing gear oil in a GETRAG box (Freelander 1)

Operating procedure

1. Place the car on a lift.

2. Remove the lower engine protection.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORKS, Engine lower shield.

3. Place a container under the gearbox to collect the gear oil.

4. Clean the area around the fill/level plug and oil drain plug.

CAUTION: Be careful when draining gear oil, which can be very hot.

5. Remove the filler/control plug.

6. Remove the drain plug.

7. Let the oil drain completely.

Filling

1. Clean the fill/level plug and drain plug.

2. Screw the drain plug into the gearbox and tighten it to 35 Nm.

3. Pour oil into the box through the filler / control hole to its lower cut.

FILLING CAPACITIES, LIQUIDS AND OILS, Lubrication system.

4. Screw the filler / control plug into the gearbox and tighten it to a torque of 35 Nm.

5. Reinstall the lower motor guard.

6. Lower the car.
