Oil scraper caps — removal and installation (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.

2. Remove camshafts.

ENGINE - MODIFICATION K, volume 1.8, Front exhaust camshaft oil seal, Integral camshaft cover: sealing and replacement of oil seals.

3. Using a magnet, remove the hydraulic compensator from the valve where the cap is to be replaced.

CAUTION: The hydraulic lifters must be in the vertical position, in the order in which they were placed on the engine.

4. Use a 16 mm socket to remove the spark plug.



5. Screw the LRT-12-142 adapter into the spark plug socket to connect the compressed air line.

6. Connect the compressed air line to the adapter and supply compressed air.



7. Slide bushing LRT-12-142 onto valve spring.


8. Install the mandrel LRT-12-142 on the upper plate of the valve spring and dry the spring with sharp hammer blows on the mandrel.

9. Using a magnet, remove the croutons.

10. Remove bushing.

11. Remove the valve spring with the top plate.



12. Remove the oil seal using the LRT-12-071 puller. Dispose of the oil seal.

Installation

1. Lubricate the new valve stem seal with engine oil.

2. Using the LRT-12-071 mandrel, install a new oil seal.

3. Install valve spring with poppet.



4. Assemble tool LRT-12-139.

5. Install the upper spring plate with the LRT-12-139 cracker.

6. Compress the valve spring so that the cracker grooves come out.

7. Lubricate the tip of the flat-bladed screwdriver with grease, "glue" cracker to the grease and install it on the valve stem.


8. After making sure that the crackers are firmly in place, release the valve spring.

9. Remove the dryer LRT-12-139.

10. Wipe the hydraulic compensator and its socket.

11. Lubricate the hydraulic compensator and its socket in the cylinder head with clean engine oil.

12. Install the hydraulic compensator.

13. Disconnect the compressed air line and unscrew the adapter LRT-12-142.

14. Clean the spark plug and adjust the electrode gap to 1.0 mm.

15. Screw in the spark plug and tighten it to 25 Nm.

16. Install camshafts.

17. Attach "negative" battery terminal.
