Dismantling
1. Remove the lower part of the front timing belt cover.

ENGINE - MODIFICATION K, volume 1.8, Front exhaust camshaft oil seal, Lower part of the front timing belt cover: vehicles with air conditioning.
2. Remove the plug and discard the sealing washer.
3. Remove the spring with pressure reducing valve.
WARNING: Take care to protect the timing belt from oil.
4. Check for freedom of movement of the valve in the port and make sure that the valve body is free of burrs and corrosion.
NOTE: Corrosion can be removed with #600 sanding paper dampened with engine oil.
5. Measure the free length of the spring.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS, Engine - gasoline K1.8.
ATTENTION: If obvious scuffing is found on the valve body and if the length of the spring in the free state is less than the allowable one, the pressure reducing valve is replaced as a whole. If scoring is found in the valve passage, the oil pump assembly must be replaced.
Installation
1. Remove any remaining sealant from the threaded part of the plug and from the threaded hole.
WARNING: Tap (for thread cleaning) use is prohibited.
2. Lubricate the valve and spring with engine oil.
3. Install valve with spring.
4. Place a new sealing washer on the plug and apply STC 50552 sealant to the threads of the plug.
5. Screw in the plug and tighten it to 25 Nm.
6. Install the lower part of the timing belt cover.

7. Check the engine oil level and top up if necessary.
