Selector housing — removal and installation (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Raise the front of the car.

WARNING: Do not work under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always install safety props.

2. Remove the top lining of the floor tunnel.

INTERIOR PARTS, REPAIRS, Center Console - for cars up to 2004 model year.

3. Disconnect a cable from the selector lever.

4. Take out a forked clip of fastening of a cover of a cable to the case of the selector.

5. Disconnect and move aside the side mirror position control unit, if such a unit is installed.

6. Disconnect the selector switch lock relay connector.

7. Disconnect the connector from the sport/manual switch.

8. Turn away a bolt and disconnect a cable from the mechanism of blocking of the lock of ignition if such mechanism is established.

9. Turn away 6 nuts of fastening of the case of the selector.

10. Remove the selector case.

11. Turn away the screw and remove a casing of the block of management of position of lateral mirrors.

Installation

1. Establish a cover of the block of management of position of lateral mirrors and fix it with the screw.

2. Reinstall the selector housing, fit the nuts and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm.

3. Attach the ignition lock cable. Install the cable sheath, install the clamp, screw in the clamp bolt, but do not tighten at this stage.

4. Connect the connector to the sport/manual switch.

5. Connect the connector to the selector lock relay.

6. Attach the cable to the selector lever.

7. Insert the fork clip securing the cable sheath to the selector housing.

8. Check the adjustment of the ignition lock cable.
