WARNING: Only properly trained personnel are allowed to carry out work to activate the components of the SRS system.
WARNING: A deployed airbag or seat belt pretensioner will become very hot. DO NOT approach the deployed airbag module for at least 30 minutes after deployment.
WARNING: Activate the SRS component only with the recommended special equipment and only in a well ventilated area. Before you activate the SRS component, make sure that it is not damaged and has no breaks or cracks. Notify the relevant officials.
WARNING: If the vehicle is to be recycled, the installed airbags and pretensioners must be forced to activate in accordance with the instructions in this manual.
WARNING: Contact with chemicals generated when the SRS component is activated or damaged is hazardous to health. Wear protective clothing when working with SRS elements. DO NOT eat, drink or smoke when working with SRS elements.
WARNING: Deployment of an airbag or seat belt pretensioner may cause injury to personnel in the immediate vicinity of the deployed component. In case of injury, urgent medical attention is required. Possible causes of injury can be:
- contusion - Deployment of an airbag or pretensioner causes a sudden movement-impact of the component.
- stun - caused by a loud noise when the airbag or seat belt pretensioner deploys.
- burns - heating parts and gases to a high temperature.
- irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract - caused by the gases and particles generated during the deployment of the airbag.
CAUTION: Make sure the SRS component is securely attached to the support before it is forcibly deployed.
WARNING: When activating the SRS system components, strictly follow the safety rules and sequence of actions recommended by the Repair Manual. The following safety rules MUST be enforced:
- Use only special equipment for activation.
- Before starting the triggering process, carry out the diagnostics of the working equipment recommended in section "Repair of the SRS system" in this guide.
- Activation of airbags and seat belt pretensioners must only be carried out in well-ventilated areas specially designed for this purpose.
- Before activating, check that the airbags and seat belt pretensioners are not damaged.
- Notify the appropriate authorities of your intention to activate the airbags or pretensioners.
- During the activation of the components of the SRS system, it is forbidden to stay closer than 15 meters (45 feet) from the place of activation.
- The activation attachment must be connected according to the instructions in section "SRS system" this guide. The activation attachment MUST NOT be connected to the battery before it is connected to the airbag or seat belt pretensioner connector.
- When activating the seat belt pretensioner, make sure that the pretensioner is securely fastened to its attachment points.
- When removing deployed airbags or pretensioners, wear protective clothing. Carry the triggered components with gloves. Once removed from the vehicle, seal the triggered component in a plastic bag.
- If any of the SRS system components has been triggered on the vehicle, all SRS system components should be replaced. DO NOT reuse SRS components that have been removed from the vehicle.
- When connecting activation equipment, do not rely on the airbag module or the seat belt pretensioner.
WARNING: During activation, the parts of the airbag are heated to high temperatures, which can cause burns. Wait 30 minutes after deployment before touching the airbag module.
