CAUTION: Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid. It can cause severe burns if it comes into contact with skin or eyes. When working with the battery, wear protective clothing and protect your face with a transparent screen.
If electrolyte comes into contact with clothing or skin, immediately wash the area with water.
If electrolyte gets into your eyes, immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
Starting from the battery of another car - with the negative pole included on "mass".
Arrange the vehicles so that the connecting cables are long enough for the connection. THE CARS SHOULD NOT TOUCH EACH OTHER. If another battery is used, it must be fully charged and placed on the ground next to the vehicle.
Make sure that
- the ignition and all accessories that consume electricity are turned off;
- the parking brake is on, the neutral in the gearbox is on.
Connect the connection cables as follows:
WARNING: The last time the cable is connected, sparking may occur, which, if it occurs near the battery, can lead to an explosion.
- a Connect one clip of the connecting cable to the positive ("+") auxiliary battery terminal.
- b Connect the other terminal of this connecting cable to the positive ("+") battery terminal.
- c Attach one clip of the jumper cable to the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery.
- d Attach the other clip of this connection cable to a convenient point "masses" on the engine.
DO NOT CONNECT IT TO "NEGATIVE" DISCHARGED BATTERY TERMINAL.
WARNING: Make sure that the connecting cables do not come into contact with moving parts, pulleys, drive belts, fan blades.
If the additional battery is installed in another vehicle, start its engine and let it idle.
Start the car engine with a discharged battery by following the sequence of actions outlined in the Owner's Manual.
CAUTION: If the engine fails to start within 12 seconds, turn off the ignition and determine the cause. Failure to comply with this requirement can seriously damage the catalytic converter.
When disconnecting cables, follow the correct sequence.
- Disconnect "negative" ("-") cable clamp from the engine, then from the additional battery.
- Remove "positive" ("+") clip the cable from the extra battery, then from the dead battery.
