- Raise the vehicle only on a level and firm surface.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Engage 1st gear in the gearbox and make sure that forced deceleration is not engaged.
WARNING: Observe the following guidelines to avoid damage to the underbody parts of the vehicle.
DO NOT INSTALL JACKS OR LIFT BRACKETS UNDER THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS:
- Bumpers
- Brake or fuel lines
- Exhaust pipe
- suspension components
- Steering gear and tie rods
- Fuel tank
- Engine oil pan
- Gear box
- Intermediate Downshift Assembly
Install the jack or support base only in the designated areas of the vehicle as shown in the following illustrations.
Jack supplied with the vehicle
The jack supplied with the vehicle is for emergency use only when changing a wheel. DO NOT use this jack for any other purpose. The installation locations of this jack and the sequence of actions are given in the Vehicle Operation Manual. It is forbidden to carry out any work on a car installed only on a jack.
Hydraulic jack
Only hydraulic jacks with a permitted load of at least 1500 kg are suitable for use (3300 pounds).
WARNING: Do not work under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always install safety props.
Raising the front of the car
Position the cup of the hydraulic jack under the center of the front cross member.
Use a front wheel jack to place safety props under each front side member.
Gently lower the jack rod - the car should smoothly lower onto the supports.
Before starting work under the vehicle, check how stable the vehicle is on jack stands.
To remove the car from the props, do the above operations in reverse order.
NOTE: Some operations may require a jack under the oil pan to support the engine. In this case, to protect the pallet, you should substitute the jack under the wooden beam.
Raising the rear of the car
Position the cup of the hydraulic jack under the center of the rear subframe cross member at the location indicated by the raised arrows.
Use a rear wheel jack to place safety props under the rear ends of the side members.
Gently lower the jack rod - the car should smoothly lower onto the supports.
Before starting work under the vehicle, check how stable the vehicle is on jack stands.
To remove the car from the props, do the above operations in reverse order.
Lifting the car on stationary lifts
Move the lift arms under the ends of the body side members. Raise the lift until it can support the weight of the vehicle to ensure that the vehicle is stable on the lift, then raise the vehicle to the desired height.
