Examination
1. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the extreme right position.
3. Turn away 3 bolts and remove a splash guard.
4. Rotate the crankshaft enough turns to check the condition of the attachment drive belt. Replace a belt that shows signs of wear, delamination, or oil contamination.
5. Applying a force of 10 kg to the belt at point 'X', measure the deflection of the belt between the crankshaft pulley and the alternator pulley. The deflection should be 6-8 mm.
Adjustment
1. Turn away a support bolt and a nut of the generator.
2. Loosen the bolt securing the alternator adjusting bracket to the engine.
3. Loosen the bolt securing the generator to the adjusting bracket.
4. Increasing the belt tension, turn the alternator adjusting bolt in a clockwise direction.
5. Tighten the alternator bolt and adjusting bracket bolt to 25 Nm.
6. Recheck drive belt tension.
7. Install the mudguard and tighten the bolts.
8. Set the steering wheel to the straight ahead position.
9. Attach "negative" battery terminal.
