A/C compressor — for models with Td4 engine (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Raise the front of the car.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle that is supported only by a jack. Always install safety props.

2. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.

3. Empty the air conditioning system and collect the refrigerant.

4. Remove the compressor drive belt.

CAUTION: Do not disconnect the air conditioning hoses until the system is completely empty.

5. Turn out 2 screws of fastening of pipelines of the conditioner to the compressor. Disconnect the lines from the compressor.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or removing system components, make sure that the surfaces adjacent to the connection points are free of dirt. Install plugs in fittings and piping to keep dirt out of the system.

6. Remove and discard O-rings from A/C lines.

7. Loosen the bolt securing the A/C compressor support bracket to the sediment filter. Do not unscrew the bolt completely.

8. Turn away 3 bolts and remove the compressor from a basic arm. Take a fixing belt aside, disconnect an electric socket and remove the compressor.

Installation

1. If a new compressor is installed, the specified amount of refrigerant must be drained from it.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Air conditioning compressor replacement.

2. The new compressor is hermetically sealed. It contains nitrogen under pressure. Remove the cover slowly. As soon as the tightness is broken, you will hear the characteristic noise of gas escaping under pressure.

3. Make sure the mating surfaces of the A/C piping and the compressor flange are clean.

4. Mount the compressor on the support bracket. Align the position of the fixing belt and tighten the bolts with a torque of 25 Nm.

5. Connect the block to the compressor connector.

6. Lubricate new O-rings with clean special oil and install them on the evaporator lines.

7. Connect the pipelines of the air conditioner with the compressor, wrap the fastening screws and tighten them with a torque of 22 Nm.

8. Replace the receiver water separator.
