Dismantling
1. Models with Td4 or KV6 engine: Remove the steering gear.
STEERING, REPAIR WORKS, Steering gear.
2. Remove the Torx head bolt that secures the tie rod to the steering gear. Discard the Torx head bolt.
3. Remove steering draft and the remote plug.
CAUTION: Note the orientation of the spacers before disassembly.
4. Firmly holding steering draft, turn away the bolt of fastening of adjusting draft located on its end.
NOTE: If disassembly was carried out only to provide access to other elements of the system, then further disassembly operations should not be performed.
5. Remove the tie rod end, remembering the number of revolutions so as not to make a mistake during assembly.
6. Turn out a bolt from steering draft a bolt of fastening of an adjusting draft.
7. Remove the adjusting rod, remembering the number of revolutions so as not to make a mistake during assembly.
NOTE: This thread is left handed.
Installation
1. Install the adjusting rod onto the tie rod by screwing it in the same number of turns as needed to remove it.
2. Install the bolt that secures the tip to the adjusting rod, but do not completely tighten it yet.
3. Install the tie rod end onto the adjusting rod by screwing it in the same number of turns as needed to remove it.
4. Install the bolt that secures the tip to the adjusting rod, but do not completely tighten it yet.
CAUTION: Make sure the slots on the tie rods are in line.
5. Clean the spacer, lock plate and tie rod end from dirt.
6. Insert spacer into steering gear housing.
CAUTION: Make sure that the spacers are installed without distortion with the correct side.
7. Connect steering draft to the steering mechanism.
8. While holding the tie rod parallel to the steering mechanism, install a new Torx bolt and tighten to 100 Nm.
9. Models with Td4 or KV6 engine: Install the steering gear.

10. Check up and if necessary adjust corners of installation of forward wheels.
STEERING, ADJUSTMENTS, Checking and adjusting the angles of the front wheels.
CAUTION: After completing the front wheel alignment check, make sure the tie rod to tie rod bolts are tightened to the specified torque.
