Dismantling
1. Remove the airbag module from the steering wheel.
PASSIVE SAFETY SYSTEMS, REPAIR WORK, Driver airbag.
2. Disconnect the connector block of the rotary contactor assembly.
3. Turn the steering wheel to the position corresponding to the rectilinear movement of the car.
4. Fix a steering wheel and loosen a self-locking nut of its fastening to a steering shaft.
5. Remove the steering wheel from the splines of the steering shaft.
6. Loosen and discard the self-locking nut.
7. Remove the steering wheel.
8. In order to maintain the correct position of the rotary contactor, stick adhesive tape around its contour.
9. Models with Td4 engine: Loosen the 3 vibration damper fixing screws and remove the vibration damper.
10. Using a tool with a rounded edge, carefully remove the horn switches from the steering wheel.
11. Having previously noted the location, disconnect the 2 terminals of type "Lucar" and remove the horn switch.
12. Repeat this operation for the other horn switch.
13. Disconnect the multi-pin electrical connectors from the controls located on the steering wheel of the cruise control system (if it is installed) and audio system.
14. Release the electrical wiring from the clamps and remove it.
15. Models equipped with cruise control: Remove the 2 screws securing the cruise control controls to the steering wheel.
16. Models equipped with cruise control: Remove the cruise control controls from the steering wheel.
17. Turn away 2 screws of fastening of controls of an audiosystem to a steering wheel.
18. Remove the audio controls from the steering wheel.
Installation
1. Install the audio controls on the steering wheel and fix them with screws.
2. Models equipped with a cruise control system: Fit the cruise control controls to the steering wheel and secure with screws.
3. Connect wiring to horn, cruise control system controls (if it is installed) and audio system and fix it in the clips.
4. Install the horn switch and connect the type terminals "Lucar".
5. Repeat this operation for the other horn switch.
6. Connect the multi-pin electrical connectors to the controls for the cruise control and audio system.
7. Models with Td4 engine: Install vibration damper and fix it with screws.
8. Remove the adhesive tape from the rotary contactor.
9. Make sure that the wheels are set in a straight-ahead position and that the turn signal off cams are in a horizontal position.
10. Install the steering wheel on the steering shaft so that the steering wheel spokes are horizontal.
11. Screw in a new self-locking steering wheel nut and tighten it to 45 Nm.
12. Connect the multi-pin connector of the rotary contactor assembly.
13. Install the driver's airbag.
