Dismantling
1. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.
2. Remove the multifunction switch from the steering column.
LIGHTING, Headlight assembly - models before 2004 model year, Switch - combined, turn indicators / headlights / horn.
3. Disconnect the multi-pin electrical connectors from the ignition switch and the immobilizer coil.
4. Turn out 2 screws of fastening of an overlay of a steering column and remove an overlay.
5. Lower the glove box cover and remove the fuse block cover.
6. Carefully cut the 2 cable ties located to the left of the steering column and free the wiring.
7. Release the 2 clamps of fastening of an electrical wiring located to the right of a steering column and release an electrical wiring.
8. Models with automatic transmission: Release the ignition lock cable from the lock located on the steering column.
9. Models with automatic transmission: Loosen and disconnect the ignition lock cable from the steering column.
10. Models with automatic transmission: Remove the steering column tilt lever mounting bolt and remove the lever.
11. Models with automatic transmission: Loosen the adjuster pinch bolt nut and remove the adjuster pinch bolt.
12. Models with automatic transmission: Disconnect the ignition lock cable from the steering column.
13. Automatic Transmission Models: Install the pinch bolt and nut to secure the support bracket.
14. Turn away a bolt of fastening of a steering shaft to a driving gear wheel of the steering mechanism.
15. Turn away a bolt of fastening of a steering column to a basic arm of the block of safety locks.
16. Turn away 2 nuts and 2 bolts by means of which the steering column fastens to the top amplifier.
17. Save the anti-vibration pad.
18. Disconnect a steering column from a basic arm and a driving gear wheel of the steering mechanism.
19. Remove the steering column assembly.
20. Remove from a steering column 2 collars of fastening of a cable.
21. Remove the ignition lock cable retainer.
22. Turn away 2 screws of fastening of the lock of ignition and remove the lock.
23. Remove the immobilizer coil.
24. Clamp the steering column assembly in a vise.
25. Knock out or drill out the shear bolts securing the steering wheel lock mechanism.
CAUTION: If the steering column is to be reused, be careful not to damage or deform it in the vise.
26. Remove the steering wheel lock mechanism.
CAUTION: If the interlock mechanism is to be reused, be careful not to damage the body of the interlock mechanism.
Installation
1. Remove the steering column from the vise.
2. Establish new collars of fastening of a cable to a steering column.
3. Automatic transmission models: Install the ignition lock cable retainer.
4. Install the steering column in the vehicle, align the steering shaft with the steering drive gear, aligning the coupling with the pointer on the gear shank.
5. Establish a steering column on hairpins and screw nuts, without tightening them while finally.
6. Install the bolts and install the anti-vibration pad on the pivot bearing. Tighten the bolts with a torque of 14 Nm.
7. Tighten the nuts with a torque of 14 Nm.
8. Wrap a bolt of fastening of a steering shaft to a drive gear and tighten it with the moment of 32 Nanometers.
WARNING: While tightening the nuts and bolts, the weight of the vehicle must be supported by the suspension.
9. Automatic transmission models: Remove the pinch bolt from the adjuster and install the ignition lock cable.
10. Models with automatic transmission: Install the adjuster pinch bolt and tighten the nut to 10 Nm. Make sure the bolt and plastic stopper are correctly positioned in the steering shaft mounting bracket hole.
11. Models with automatic transmission: Install the steering column tilt adjustment lever and tighten the bolt to 12 Nm. Turn the lever to its highest position before tightening the bolt. Hold the tie bolt nut to prevent it from turning.
12. Models with automatic transmission: Remove the ignition key.
13. Models with automatic transmission: Connect the ignition lock cable to the steering column and tighten its fastening to 4 Nm.
14. Models with automatic transmission: Install the steering wheel lock mechanism on the steering column and tighten the shear bolts. Do not completely tighten the shear bolts yet.
15. Automatic transmission models: Insert the ignition key, test the operation of the steering wheel lock mechanism and check that the key turns without binding.
16. Automatic transmission models: Check that the ignition lock cable is functioning properly.
17. Models with automatic transmission: Remove the ignition key.
18. Models with automatic transmission: Fully tighten the shear bolts and cut off the heads.
19. Automatic transmission models: Install the immobilizer coil.
20. Models with automatic transmission: Install the ignition lock on the steering column, wrap and tighten the screws securing it.
21. Automatic transmission models: Attach the ignition lock cable to the retainer.
22. Automatic transmission models: Make sure the ignition lock cable is installed correctly.
23. Screw in the side bolt and tighten it to 10 Nm.
24. Correctly position the electrical wiring and secure it with clamps.
25. Replace the fuse box cover and close the glove box cover.
26. Connect the multi-pin electrical connectors to the ignition switch and immobilizer coil.
27. Install the trim and secure it with screws.
28. Install the multifunction switch on the steering column.

29. Attach "negative" battery terminal.
