Removing air from the power steering system (Freelander 1)

Examination

1. Stop the engine.



2. Check the condition of the working fluid. If there are air bubbles, wait until they disappear, then add the recommended working fluid to the level mark "UPPER".

3. Replace the reservoir cap.

Adjustment

1. Clean the area around the power steering reservoir cap and level marks from dirt.

2. Remove the cap from the tank and add Dexron II D fluid to the mark "UPPER". During the removal of air in the reservoir of the hydraulic booster, there must be a working fluid.

3. Start the engine and let it idle for 10 seconds. Stop the engine.

4. Add working fluid to the tank to the upper level.

5. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel to the extreme left and right positions. Stop the engine.

CAUTION: Do not leave the steering wheel in the end position for more than 10 seconds.

6. Add working fluid to the tank to the upper level.

7. Start the engine and let it run for 2 minutes, turn the steering wheel to the extreme left and right positions.
