Dismantling
1. Remove the front propeller shaft.
DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORKS, Cardan shaft - front.
2. Remove the rear driveshaft.
DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORKS, Cardan shaft - rear.
CAUTION: When removing and installing components associated with the viscous coupling, the flange must be fully suspended from the side of the splines. Under no circumstances should the load be transferred through the bearings of the viscous coupling.
3. Mark the position of the viscous clutch support bearings.
4. Place the support prisms on the press table as shown in the figure, taking care that the prisms are not in contact with the oil flinger.
5. With the help of a partner, install the viscous coupling on the press table.
6. Install the mandrel LRT-37-011/2 on the splines of the viscous coupling.
7. Using a partner, press the splined end of the viscous coupling through the support bearing. Do not let the coupling fall when it is free from the support bearing.
8. Remove the viscous coupling from the press table.
Installation
1. Wipe the oil slinger, bearing journal and support bearings.
2. Check that the spaces between the bearing and outer housing are filled with Texaco Novatex EP2 grease.
3. With the help of a partner, install the viscous coupling on the work table of the press so that the collar of the coupling abuts against the prisms, as shown in the figure.
4. Install the LRT-60-010/1 mandrel on the inner race of the bearing and press the bearing onto the viscous coupling.
5. Remove the viscous coupling from the press table.
6. Check the freedom of rotation of the bearing.
7. Reinstall the front propeller shaft.
