Rear differential cover (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Raise the rear of the vehicle.

WARNING: Do not work under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always install safety props.

2. Install a container to collect the oil.



3. Remove the filler/control plug.

4. Turn out 10 screws of fastening of a cover of a case of differential.

5. Remove the cover.

Installation

1. Wash off the rear cover, clean the mating surface on the differential housing, the bolts and bolt sockets, removing any remaining sealant.

2. Apply STC 3811 sealant to the differential housing and install the rear cover.

3. Apply STC 50552 sealant to the threads of the cover bolts.

4. Wrap bolts of fastening of a back cover and tighten them, crosswise, the moment of 25 Nm.

5. Fill oil into differential case.

MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE, Rear Axle.

6. Screw in the filler plug and tighten it to 27 Nm.

7. Remove props and lower the car.
