Examination
1. Remove the ashtray from the rear console, disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector from the electrical outlet and remove the ashtray.
2. Fully release the parking brake lever.
3. With the engine running, depress the brake pedal at least thirty times to adjust the rear brake pad clearance.
4. Stop the engine.
5. Pull the parking brake lever up, gradually moving the latch along the gear sector. Count how many clicks the lever will tighten when a force of 20 kgf is applied to the middle of its handle. Parking brake lever travel = 4 - 7 teeth.
6. Adjust the parking brake cable tension if the lever travel is not within the required range.
CAUTION: The parking brake lever travel must be within the required range, otherwise the automatic lash adjuster may not work.
Adjustment
1. If adjustment work is carried out after installing the brake drum, then press the brake pedal at least 30 times. This will allow you to adjust the clearance of the rear brake pads.
2. Raise the rear of the vehicle.
WARNING: Do not work under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always install safety props.
3. Check up lack of backlash in a place of fastening of a cable of a parking brake to an equalizer.
4. Tighten the parking brake lever one tooth.
5. Tighten the equalizer adjusting nut. Tighten the nut until the rear wheels brake slightly as they turn.
6. Release the parking brake lever and check that the rear wheels do not brake when turning. Make adjustments if necessary.
7. Pull the parking brake lever up, gradually moving the latch along the gear sector. Count how many clicks you need to tighten the lever so that both rear wheels are fully braked. The parking brake lever travel must be at least 4 clicks and no more than 7 clicks. Make adjustments if necessary.
8. Pull down the parking brake lever.
9. Insert the ashtray and cigarette lighter into the rear console.
10. Remove props and lower the car.
