Rear bumper assembly — for vehicles after 2004 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the rear mudguards.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIRS, Rear Mudguard.

2. Remove both rear fog lights.

LIGHTING, Headlight assembly - models up to 2004 model year, Combination lamp - rear.

3. Remove the rear wheel arch extensions.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORKS, Rear part of the rear wheel arch extension.

4. Turn away 2 screws and remove both arms of mudguards.

5. Remove the 6 Torx screws that secure the luggage compartment floor cover to the body.

6. Remove a level of fastening of a floor covering of a luggage space.

7. Remove the tailgate seal to gain access to the self-tapping screws securing the bumper to the body.

8. Turn away 5 self-tapping screws of fastening of a bumper to a body.

9. Turn away 4 screws of fastening of a bumper to a body.

10. Turn away 2 Torx bolts of fastening of a bumper to a cross beam.

11. With the help of a partner, release the bumper and the electrical cable of the sensor of the rear parking assistance system from the attachment to the body.

12. Remove the reverse parking aid sensor electrical cable retainer and disconnect the connector.

13. Remove the bumper.

NOTE: If disassembly was carried out only to provide access to other elements of the system, then further disassembly operations should not be performed.

14. Remove both rear lights.

15. Disconnect electric sockets from 4 gauges of the system of the help at a parking by a backing and remove an electric cable from 9 collars.

16. Remove the rear park assist sensor electrical cable from the bumper.

17. Release 2 collars and remove the gauge of system of the help at a parking by a backing from a decorative overlay.

18. Remove the reverse parking aid sensor trim from the bumper.

19. Repeat the above procedure to remove the remaining 3 rear park assist sensors.

20. Turn out from a bumper a nuts of fastening of back lanterns.

Installation

1. Screw nuts of fastening of back lanterns on a bumper.

2. Install and secure the reverse parking aid sensor trims to the bumper.

3. Install the electrical cable and attach it to the reverse park assist sensors and bumper.

4. Install both rear lights.

LIGHTING, Headlight assembly - pre-2004 models, Rear combination lamp.

5. With the help of an assistant, install the bumper assembly to the body.

6. Connect the electrical connector of the reverse parking aid cable, install the clamps and attach them to the body.

7. Align the bumper with the body and secure it with screws and self-tapping screws.

8. Install the Torx screws securing the bumper to the cross member and tighten them to 5 Nm.

9. Establish on a body a sealant of a door of a luggage space.

10. Install the luggage compartment floor mounting plate and secure it with the Torx screws.

11. Install mudguard brackets and secure with screws.

12. Reinstall the rear wheel arch extensions.
