Cable/rod of an unblocking of the lock of a cowl (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Remove the hood latch.



2. Tie a rope to the end of the hood release cable and pull the cable out of the hood latch panel.

3. Untie the rope from the hood release cable.



4. Remove the 3 ties and release the hood release cable from the wiring harness.



5. Remove the bolt securing the hood release lever to the lower panel of the A-pillar 'A'.


6. Remove the hood release cable from the lever and remove the lever.



7. Move the sound deadening pad away from the bulkhead of the engine compartment to gain access to the bushing of the hood release cable.

8. Remove the sleeve from the bulkhead of the engine compartment.

9. Remove the hood release cable.

Installation

1. Pull the hood release cable through the bulkhead of the engine compartment.

2. Attach the lever of the hood release mechanism and connect the cable to it.

3. Install the hood release lever to the A-pillar 'A' and tighten the bolt to 9 Nm.

4. Install the hood release cable bushing to the bulkhead of the engine compartment.

5. Attach the hood release cable to the electrical cable and secure it with ties.

6. Install the sound deadening pad on the bulkhead of the engine compartment.

7. Tie a rope to the end of the hood release cable.

8. Pulling on the rope, pull the hood release cable through the hood latch panel.

9. Untie the rope from the hood release cable.

10. Install the hood latch.

11. Close the hood and check the functioning of the lock.
