Tailgate decorative panel for cars after 2004 (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Turn away the screw of fastening of an overlay of the handle to a door and remove an overlay.



2. Release from fastening and remove an overlay of a door handle.

3. Turn away 3 screws of fastening of a door handle to a door.



4. Release the decorative trim from fastening to the door.




5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the tweeter.

6. Disconnect an electric socket from the window regulator control panel and remove the decorative panel.

NOTE: If disassembly was carried out only to provide access to other elements of the system, then further disassembly operations should not be performed.

7. Release 2 clamps and remove an overlay of the control panel of a window regulator from the decorative panel.



8. Remove the retaining ring that secures the tweeter to the trim panel and remove the speaker.




9. Remove the foam from the lock button guide.

10. Release the latch and remove the lock button guide.

11. Note the position of the 2 long clips and remove the 9 clips from the decorative panel.

12. Release from fastening and remove a lock ring by means of which the door handle fastens to the decorative panel.

13. Remove the 2 clips that secure the door handle to the trim panel and remove the handle.

NOTE: Plastic retainers are factory installed only. Subsequently, screws should be used to fasten all elements installed at the factory on plastic clips.

Installation

1. Install the door handle on the decorative panel and secure it with screws and retaining ring.

2. Install the fasteners on the decorative panel.

3. Install the lock button guide on the decorative panel and secure it with the retainer.

4. Place the foam pad on the lock button guide.

5. Install the tweeter in the door panel and secure it with the retaining ring.

6. Install on the decorative panel and fix the power window control panel and its overlay.

7. Connect electrical connectors to power window control panel and tweeter.


8. Place the trim panel against the door, align the panel latches with the door openings, and press firmly on the panel.

9. Install and tighten the screws securing the door handle to the door.

10. Install and secure the trim on the door handle.

11. Place the handle on the decorative panel and secure it with the screw.
