Description of the car Land Rover Freelander 2 and 1

The Freelander car from the British company Land Rover has been produced since the end of 1997. It is positioned as a premium all-wheel drive frameless compact crossover with pretty good off-road performance.

The company for a long time did not dare to release such a not quite "full-fledged" SUV and spoil your image, although in these years cars of this class were quite popular and this popularity was growing rapidly. But still, they decided to take this step and firmly occupied this niche in the market.

First generation Freelander was produced until 2006 and had quite a few forms, both three-door and five-door with gasoline and diesel engines. There were models with a soft roof over the second row of seats, it could be removed. The Freelander Sport was also released, which had a 30mm lower ride height than the base model and stiffer suspension.

This is the first time Land Rover has used a steep hill descent assist system on this model. Also, independent suspension and a frameless load-bearing body were the first to be used here.


In 2006, the first generation replaced Freelander 2. It was put into production and sales also started. In 2007, they released a modification of the HSE with 19-inch rims.

This version of the SUV received the highest EuroNCAP rating for passenger safety - 5 stars, making it one of the safest vehicles in its class.

Freelander 2 is equipped with gasoline and diesel engines with automatic and manual transmissions. Petrol - 3.2 liter, six-cylinder in-line engine with a capacity of 233 hp. Diesel - these are 2.2 liter turbocharged engines with a capacity of 150, 160 and 190 hp, having 4 in-line cylinders.

In 2012, this Freelander 2 received another engine - a gasoline, in-line, four-cylinder with a capacity of 240 hp. Acceleration with this engine takes about 8.8 seconds to 100 km/h. Average fuel consumption is 9.6 liters per 100 km. Impressive performance!
