WARNING: Wait at least 30 seconds after stopping the engine before attempting any repair to the high pressure fuel injection system. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury.
WARNING: Before starting any work on the fuel system, ground the vehicle and maintain a short to ground until the work is completed.
WARNING: Do not smoke or walk with a lit cigarette or open flame of any type while working on or near fuel related items. There is a danger of ignition of flammable vapours. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION: After repair work is completed, the fuel system must be visually inspected for leaks. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.
WARNING: If fuel is swallowed, do not induce vomiting and seek immediate medical attention. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING: If fuel gets in your eyes, rinse them with cold water or eyewash solution and seek immediate medical attention.
WARNING: Wash hands thoroughly after handling fuel as prolonged skin contact with fuel may cause irritation. If irritation occurs, seek medical attention.
CAUTION: This procedure is related to fuel handling. Always be aware of the possibility of fuel splashing and observe fuel safety precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Diesel fuel injection equipment is manufactured to very precise tolerances and with very close clearances. Therefore, when working with these elements, it is especially important to observe absolute cleanliness. Open holes or lines should always be plugged with appropriate plugs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in dirt entering the fuel injection system.
CAUTION: This procedure must be performed before attempting to start the engine after removing or replacing any part of the fuel system that has penetrated the fuel line. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the fuel pump.
1. This procedure is required when removing, disconnecting, or replacing any of the following fuel system parts: fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel filter element, fuel coolers, fuel pump, or fuel rail pressure sensor.
2. Remove the engine cover. Engine cover - 2.7L Diesel (12.30.50)
3. Install the special tool on the fuel manifold schrader valve. Remove the dust cap from the Schrader valve.
4. Place a container to catch spilled fuel. Open the valve on the special tool.
5. Turn the ignition key to the ON position for 25 seconds. In this case, you should hear noise from the operation of the fuel pump in the tank.
6. Repeat this procedure until clean fuel comes out of the special tool without air bubbles. Without turning off the pump, turn off the valve on the special tool to prevent air from entering the system.
7. Remove the special tool from the Schrader valve. Put the dust cap on the schrader valve.
8. Remove container.
9.
NOTE: To bleed the fuel manifolds and injectors, let the engine run for 2 minutes at idle.
Start the engine and let it idle.
10. Install the engine cover. Engine cover - 2.7L Diesel (12.30.50)
