General information
The V8 petrol engine is a 4.4-liter 8-cylinder V-twin engine "closed" type with a 90 degree camber angle, four valves per cylinder and two overhead camshafts. The exhaust gas toxicity of the engine meets the requirements of the European environmental regulations ECD3 and the American federal legislation Tier2 Bin 8; to limit the emission of harmful substances in the engine, catalytic converters, an electronic engine management system, forced crankcase ventilation and an exhaust gas recirculation system were used. The engine cooling system has a small volume and high coolant flow. The fuel injection system is controlled by the engine control unit (ECM).
The cylinder block is made of aluminum alloy with cast iron liners. To increase the rigidity of the lower part of the engine, an aluminum base plate is bolted to it. The cylinder heads are made of aluminum alloy with thermoplastic valve covers. The one-piece cast oil pan is also made of aluminum alloy. Each bank of cylinders has its own dual-layer stainless steel exhaust manifold. To reduce the noise level from the engine, a noise-insulating plastic cover is installed on top of it.
