Draining and refilling engine oil (Discovery 3)

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the storage battery. Specification.

WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle standing on only one jack. Always support the vehicle with jack stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the motor protection. Engine protection (76.10.50)

4. Remove the oil sump drain plug.

• Place a container to collect liquid.
• Discard the oil drain plug seal.

5. Remove the panel that blocks access to the radiator. Turn out 4 bolts.



6. Remove the oil filter.

• Place a container to collect liquid.
• Discard the oil filter.

7. Install the engine oil filter.

• Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and tighten (tightening torque 18 Nm).
• Install a new seal.
• Tighten the drain plug (tightening torque 25 Nm).

8. Tighten the drain plug (tightening torque 25 Nm). Install a new seal.

9. Install the motor guard. Engine protection (76.10.50)

10. Fill the engine with oil.

11. Check the engine oil level, top up if necessary.

12. Connect a wire of weight to the storage battery. Specification.
