Device for removing/replacing the roller tappet of the camshaft 303-581 |
Removing
1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the storage battery. For more information, refer to Specification
2. Remove the left cylinder head cover. For more information refer to Left Valve Cover (12.29.43)
3. Remove a cover of the right head of cylinders. For more information, refer to Right Valve Cover (12.29.44)
4. Remove the viscous fan assembly. For more information refer to Cooling Fan (26.25.19)

NOTE: Before removing, make sure the camshaft cam is against the camshaft roller tappet.
NOTE: Label each crankshaft roller follower and lash adjuster. Make sure each piece is in its original installation position.
Using the special tool, remove the camshaft roller tappets. Compress the valve spring.
6. Rotate the engine to access the rest of the camshaft roller tappets.
7. Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.
Installation

NOTE: Reinstall the parts in their original positions.
Install hydraulic lash adjusters.
- Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
- Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil.
NOTE: Reinstall the parts in their original positions.
Using the special tool, install the camshaft roller tappets.
- Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
- Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil.
- Reinstall the parts in reverse order.
3. Rotate the engine to access the rest of the camshaft roller tappets.
4. Install the viscous fan assembly. For more information refer to Cooling Fan (26.25.19)
5. Establish a cover of the right head of cylinders. For more information, refer to Right Valve Cover (12.29.44)
6. Establish a cover of the left head of cylinders. For more information refer to Left Valve Cover (12.29.43)
7. Connect a wire of weight to the storage battery. For more information, refer to Specification
