Draining and refilling engine oil (Discovery 3)

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the storage battery.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always place secure supports under the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the motor shield. Engine protection (76.10.50)

4. Remove the oil pan drain plug.

• Install a container to collect liquid.
• Discard the oil drain plug seal.

5. Remove the oil filter.

• Install a container to collect liquid.
• Discard the oil filter.

6. Reinstall the parts in reverse order.

• Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and tighten (tightening torque 18 Nm).
• Install a new oil seal.
• Tighten the drain plug (tightening torque 25 Nm).

7. Fill the engine with oil.

8. Check the engine oil level, add oil if necessary.
