Removal and installation of the oil pump (Discovery 3)

Removing

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the storage battery. For more information, refer to Specification

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always place secure supports under the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the front wheels complete with tires.

4. Remove the cylinder block frame. For more information, please refer to Cylinder block frame (12.25.06)

5. Remove the oil pump assembly.

• Remove 2 Torx screws.
• Remove the cardan shaft.

NOTE: Do not proceed with further disassembly if the part is being removed only for access.

Remove the oil pickup pipe.

• Remove 3 Torx screws.
• Remove and discard seal.

Installation

1. Install the oil suction pipe.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Install a new seal.
• Tighten Torx Head Screws (tightening torque 10 Nm).

CAUTION: The propeller shaft of the oil pump is not symmetrical. The long end shown attaches to the oil pump.

Install the oil pump assembly.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Fill the oil pump.
• Install the cardan shaft.
• Tighten the Torx screws with a torque of 20 Nm.

3. Install the cylinder block frame. For more information, refer to Cylinder Block Frame (12.25.06)

4. Install the front wheel and tire assembly.

5. Connect a wire of weight to the storage battery. For more information refer to Specification
