Removal and installation of an oil crankcase (Discovery 3)

Removing

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the storage battery. For more information, refer to Specification

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always place secure supports under the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Drain the engine oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Refilling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

4. Release the wiring harness bracket. Loosen 2 nuts.



5. Remove the oil pan.

• Remove 10 bolts.
• Remove the gasket and discard it.

Installation

1. Install the oil pan.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Install a new gasket.
• Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually (tightening torque 10 Nm).

2. Install the wiring harness bracket. Tighten nuts (tightening torque 6 Nm).

3. Fill the engine with oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Refilling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

4. Connect a wire of weight to the storage battery. For more information, refer to Specification
