Removal and installation of the oil cooler (Discovery 3)

Removing

1. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack. Always place secure supports under the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the oil filter. Install a container to collect liquid.

NOTE: Record the position of the oil cooler assembly installed.

Remove the oil filter adapter. Remove the oil cooler from the top of the oil filter.

5. Press with a clamp, and then disconnect the coolant hoses from the oil cooler.



6. Remove the oil cooler.

Installation

NOTE: Before connecting the coolant hoses, fill the oil cooler with coolant to remove air from it.

Reinstall the parts in reverse order.

• Tighten adapter (tightening torque 60 Nm).
• Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and tighten (tightening torque 18 Nm).

2. Check engine oil level, top up if necessary.

3. Add coolant to the cooling system and bleed air from it.
