General information
The TdV6 engine is a diesel, six-cylinder, two-row (3 cylinders in each row) engine with a 60-degree camber angle, a displacement of 2.7 liters and direct injection. The engine has 4 valves per cylinder which are actuated by 2 overhead camshafts per bank of cylinders. Toxicity of exhaust gases of the engine meets the requirements of European environmental standards ECD3; to limit the emission of harmful substances in the engine, two catalytic converters, an electronic engine management system, forced crankcase ventilation and exhaust gas recirculation are used. The engine is liquid cooled and turbocharged. The fuel system uses an accumulator system with direct injection.
The cylinder block is made of compacted gray cast iron (CGI), and a lightweight, compact and very durable stepped cast aluminum alloy plate is attached to its lower part to increase its rigidity. The cylinder heads are cast aluminum alloy and fitted with a plastic camshaft cover. The non-separable oil pan is made of stamped steel. Each cylinder bank has its own cast iron exhaust manifold. To reduce the noise level of the engine, a molded plastic soundproof cover is installed on top of it.
