Oil sump (Discovery 3)

Removing

1. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery. For more information refer to Specification.

2. Remove the engine cover. For more information refer to Engine Cover - 2.7L Diesel (12.30.50)

WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle standing on only one jack. Always support the vehicle with jack stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

4. Drain the engine oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Refilling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

5. Remove the engine oil temperature sensor.

• Disconnect the engine oil temperature sensor electrical connector.
• Remove the O-ring and discard it.

6. Disconnect the engine wiring harness. Release the engine wiring harness from the support bracket.

7. Remove the oil pan.

• Remove 14 oil pan bolts.
• Remove the gasket and discard it.

Installation

1. Install the oil pan.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Install a new gasket.
• Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually (tightening torque 10 Nm).

2. Connect the engine wiring harness. Insert the engine wiring harness into the support bracket.

3. Install the engine oil temperature sensor.

• Install the sealing ring.
• Tighten Gauge (tightening torque 10 Nm).
• Connect the electrical connector.

4. Fill the engine with oil. For more information, refer to Draining and Refilling Engine Oil (12.60.05)

5. Install the engine cover. For more information refer to Engine Cover - 2.7L Diesel (12.30.50)

6. Connect the wire "masses" to the battery. For more information refer to Specification.
