Oil pump (Discovery 3)

Removing

1. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery. For more information refer to Specification.

2. Remove the generator. For more information refer to Generator (86.10.02)

3. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner. Turn out a bolt.



4. Remove the crankshaft front oil seal. For more information, refer to Front Crankshaft Seal (12.21.14)

5. Remove the alternator support bracket. Turn out five bolts.



6. Remove the intermediate timing belt pulley. Turn out a bolt.

WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle standing on only one jack. Always support the vehicle with jack stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

8. Disconnect the positive cable from the battery. Remove two bolts.



9. Turn away the bottom bolts of fastening of the oil pump. Remove four bolts.



10. Remove the oil pump.

• Loosen ten screws.
• Remove the timing belt cover seal.
• Remove the gasket and discard it.

Installation

CAUTION: Make sure the gasket is installed correctly.

NOTE: Tighten the 10 oil pump to cylinder block bolts before tightening the 4 lower oil pump bolts.

Install the oil pump.

• Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
• Install a new gasket.
• Install the oil pump on the bottom of the cylinder block.
• Align the oil pump with the studs on the cylinder block.
• Install the two oil pump mounting bolts as shown, but do not tighten them yet.
• Screw in the remaining 8 bolts and tighten them evenly (tightening torque 10 Nm).

2. Screw in the bottom bolts of fastening of the oil pump. Tighten 4 bolts (tightening torque 10 Nm).

3. Connect the positive cable to the battery. Tighten two bolts (tightening torque 10 Nm).

4. Install the timing belt idler pulley. tighten bolt (tightening torque 45 Nm).

5. Establish a forward epiploon of a cranked shaft. For more information, refer to Front Crankshaft Seal (12.21.14)

6. Install the generator support bracket. Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 22 Nm).

7. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner. tighten bolt (tightening torque 45 Nm).

8. Install the generator. For more information refer to Generator (86.10.02)

9. Connect the wire "masses" to the battery. For more information refer to Specification.
