Primary transfer
The primary transmission is provided by a single-profile belt from the crankshaft to the gears of the exhaust camshaft of each cylinder bank through two support rollers and a tensioner.
The timing belt tension is adjusted by an eccentric tensioner mounted on the right front side of the cylinder block.
Secondary transmission
Item name | Spare part number | Description |
1 | - | Timing chain |
2 | - | bolts |
3 | - | intake camshaft |
4 | - | exhaust camshaft |
5 | - | Tensioner striker |
Secondary transmission is provided by two short transverse chains that transmit torque from the exhaust camshaft gears to the intake camshaft gears. The chains are located at the rear of the right bank of cylinders and at the front of the left bank of cylinders. This makes it possible to simplify and make shorter the primary belt drive of the camshafts in front of the engine.
Each cross chain is equipped with an automatic tensioner, which acts directly on the chain through the guide. Tensioners are located between the exhaust and intake camshafts at the front or rear of the cylinder head, depending on the cylinder bank.
