Crankshaft position sensor (Discovery 3)
crankshaft position sensor (CKP) located at the rear of the crankshaft, behind the flywheel to the left of the rear oil seal holder. The sensor generates an input signal of the speed and position of the crankshaft. The sensor uses the Hall effect, on the basis of which the sensor scans "target" (magnetic disk) on the crankshaft. Air gap between "target" and sensor CKP, equal to 0.4-1.5 mm, is achieved due to the appropriate location of the sensor. For more information refer to Electronic Engine Controls (303-14C Electronic Engine Controls - 2.7L Diesel).
