Oil temperature sensor 4.0L (Discovery 3)

Removing

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the accumulator. For more information refer to Specification.

WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always place the vehicle on secure stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the lower engine protection. For more information refer to Motor Protection (76.10.50)

CAUTION: Make sure the area around the contact surfaces is clean and dry before you start to disconnect or remove parts. Plug all open connections to avoid contamination of the system.

Remove the oil temperature sensor.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Place a container to catch spilled fuel.
• Remove the O-ring and discard it.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Lubricate new seals with clean engine oil.

Install the oil temperature sensor.

• Clean the mating surfaces of the elements.
• Install a new sealing ring.
• Tighten oil temperature gauge (tightening torque 20 Nm).
• Connect the electrical connector.

2. Install the lower engine shield. For more information refer to Motor Protection (76.10.50)

3. Connect a wire of weight to the storage battery. For more information refer to Specification.

4. Check the engine oil level, top up if necessary.
