Engine Control Module Cooling Fan 2.7L (Discovery 3)

Removing

1. Disconnect a wire of weight from the storage battery. For more information refer to Specification.

2. Remove the battery shelf. For more information, refer to Battery Mounting Shelf (76.10.30)

3. Remove the engine control module (ECM). For more information refer to Engine Control Module (ECM) (18.30.03)

4. Remove the cover of the battery electrical junction box (BJB). Release the clamp.



5. Remove the BJB from the bracket. Turn out a bolt.



6. Remove the central electrical box (CJB). For more information refer to Central Junction Box (CJB) (86.70.56)

7. Release the CJB bracket.

• Release the 3 upper cable harness clips.
• Turn out 2 bolts.

8. Remove the CJB bracket.

• Disconnect 2 electrical connectors.
• Release the 3 bottom cable harness clips.
• Loosen 2 nuts.

9. Disconnect the ECM housing.

• Detach the insulation to gain access to the nuts.
• Remove 2 nuts and remove 2 bolts.

ATTENTION: Pay attention to the wiring harnesses.

Disconnect and disconnect the ECM cooling fan electrical connector.



11. Remove the bottom panel of the ECM housing. Remove 4 screws.

ATTENTION: Mark the installation location of the elements before removing.

Remove the cooling fan. Remove 2 screws.

Installation

1.

ATTENTION: Make sure that the elements are installed in the original position marked during removal.

Install a cooling fan. Screw in 2 screws.

CAUTION: Make sure the seal is installed correctly.

Install the ECM housing bottom panel. Screw in 4 screws.

WARNING: Make sure the wiring harnesses are correctly positioned.

Connect and secure the cooling fan electrical connector.

CAUTION: Make sure the seal is installed correctly.

Attach the ECM housing. Tighten bolts and nuts (tightening torque 10 Nm).

5. Install the CJB bracket.

• Tighten nuts (tightening torque 10 Nm).
• Fasten the clamps.
• Connect electrical connectors.
• Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 25 Nm).

6. Install CJB. For more information refer to Central Junction Box (CJB) (86.70.56)

7. Attach the BJB to the bracket. tighten bolt (tightening torque 6 Nm).

8. Install the BJB cover. Fasten the clamp.

9. Install the ECM. For more information refer to Engine Control Module (ECM) (18.30.03)

10. Install the battery shelf. For more information, refer to Battery Mounting Shelf (76.10.30)

11. Connect a wire of weight to the storage battery. For more information refer to Specification.
