Removing
1. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery. For more information refer to Specification.
2. Remove the left EGR valve (EGR). For more information refer to Left EGR Valve (EGR) - This vehicle does not include: Diesel fuel filter (17.45.16)
3. Disconnect the plug connector of the CMP sensor.
4. Remove and discard the CMP sensor. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the CMP sensor.
Installation
1.
NOTE: The engine should only be turned in the normal direction of rotation of the crankshaft.
Rotate the crankshaft until you can see one of the three stripes on the back of the camshaft pulley through the CMP sensor housing.
- For clarity, the timing belt is shown removed.
- Using a mirror, inspect the strips on the camshaft pulley through the hole in the CMP sensor housing.

CAUTION: Camshaft Position Sensor End (SMR) should rest on one of the three strips on the back of the camshaft pulley. Improper installation can result in damage to the CMP sensor.
Install a new CMP sensor.
3. Screw in the bolt. tighten bolt (tightening torque 10 Nm).
4. Mate the CMP sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the left EGR valve. For more information refer to Left EGR Valve (EGR) - This vehicle does not include: Diesel fuel filter (17.45.16)
6. Connect the wire "masses" to the battery. For more information refer to Specification.
