General information
WARNING: When lifting the vehicle, the following instructions must be followed:
- The vehicle must be parked on a level and firm surface.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Move the automatic transmission selector to position "R" (parking) or engage the first gear of the manual transmission and select the mode "H" (upper range) distribution box.
CAUTION: If it is necessary to disconnect the drive shaft (shafts) you need to raise the car until all four wheels are off the ground so that you can turn the shaft (shafts). DO NOT use the customer's jack and make sure the vehicle is securely supported by the axles. When the car is raised, you will need to move the automatic transmission selector to the position "N" (neutral), to turn the drive shaft (shafts).
ATTENTION: To avoid damage to the parts located on the bottom, the following requirements must be observed:
WARNING: Do not place jacks or stands under the following parts:
- Any body parts other than permitted jacking or lifting points
- bumper
- Fuel lines
- Fuel tank
- brake pipes
- Front or rear suspension arms
- Tie rods
- Transfer case
- Front or rear differential
- Transmission
- Engine Oil Pan - See Note Below
NOTE: Some repairs may require the installation of an engine oil pan stand. In this case, a block of wood or rubber must be placed on the jack rod to protect the oil pan.
Staff jack
The jack supplied with the vehicle is for emergency use only to change a wheel with a flat tire. DO NOT use this jack for any other purpose. The places for installing the jack and the sequence of actions are given in the Vehicle Operating Instructions.
WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out any work on a vehicle installed only on a jack.
Hydraulic jack
Only hydraulic jacks with a permitted load of at least 1500 kg are suitable for use (3300 pounds).
WARNING: Do not start work from below a jacked up vehicle unless axle stands have been installed in the places provided.
CAUTION: Place wheel chocks under the wheels when lifting the vehicle. You should not rely on the parking brake - after the rear axle wheels have come off, it may not work.
Lifting the car and installing stands
To facilitate lifting the vehicle, the illustrations below show the jacking points.
Raising the front of the car
Apply the parking brake. Move the automatic transmission selector to position "P" (parking).
WARNING: When raising the front of the vehicle, always place wheel chocks under the rear wheels of the vehicle.
Position the hydraulic lift rod in the center of the engine bottom shield recess.
NOTE: If the engine bottom shield is removed, install the hydraulic lift rod in the center of the front subframe cross member.
When the vehicle is raised to the required height, place axle stands as shown in the illustration.
ATTENTION: To prevent damage to the longitudinal beams, lay blocks of suitable material between them and the supports.
Gently lower the jack rod - the car should smoothly lower onto the stands.
WARNING: Before starting work from below the vehicle, once again check that the stands are properly installed and that the vehicle is securely fastened to the stands.
To remove the vehicle from the stands, follow these steps in reverse order.
Raising the rear of the car
Move the automatic transmission selector to position "P" (parking).
CAUTION: When raising the front of the vehicle, always place wheel chocks under the front wheels.
Position the hydraulic lift rod in the center of the rear subframe crossmember as shown in the illustration.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the heat shield, make sure the jack rod is the correct size. It is not recommended to place a spacer between the jack rod and the cross member of the rear subframe, as this may impair the stability of the vehicle.
After raising the vehicle to the desired height, place the axle stands as shown in the illustration.
ATTENTION: To prevent damage to the stringers, lay blocks of suitable material between them and the supports.
Gently lower the jack rod - the car should smoothly lower onto the stands.
WARNING: Before starting work on the bottom of the vehicle, make sure once again that the stands are properly installed and that the vehicle is securely fastened to the stands.
To remove the vehicle from the stands, follow these steps in reverse order.
Car lift - one wheel/one side
Apply the parking brake. Move the automatic transmission selector to position "P" (parking).
CAUTION: Always fit wheel chocks under wheels that will not lift off the ground.
- One front wheel - place the hydraulic jack rod under the stringer on the side to be lifted at the point "A"
- One rear wheel - place the hydraulic jack rod under the stringer on the side to be lifted at the point "IN"
- Front and rear wheel - ONE SIDE - place the hydraulic jack rod under the stringer on the side to be lifted at the point "WITH"
NOTE: Dot "C" is in line with body support No. 3.
After raising the vehicle to the desired height, install the stand (And) under the longitudinal beam and next to the jack rod at the corresponding point (points) D.
ATTENTION: To prevent damage to the stringers, lay blocks of suitable material between them and the supports.
Gently lower the jack rod - the car should smoothly lower onto the stands.
WARNING: Before starting work from below the vehicle, once again check that the stands are properly installed and that the vehicle is securely fastened to the stands.
To remove the vehicle from the stands, follow these steps in reverse order.
