Introduction (Discovery 3)

Modern vehicles use many fluids and other materials that, if handled improperly, pose a risk to the health of service personnel and the environment. Most procedures related to car repair and maintenance involve physical or other health hazards.

This subsection covers some of these hazardous operations and the materials and equipment associated with them. Precautions necessary to eliminate such a hazard are indicated.

The list is not exhaustive, and therefore all operations and procedures, as well as the handling of materials, must be carried out in accordance with health and safety requirements.

Before using any material or equipment/tool, read the safety precautions sheet supplied by the manufacturer or supplier of that product.

WARNING: Fluids and materials used in modern vehicles are dangerous and toxic. They are not allowed to enter the body. Contact with skin should be avoided. These fluids and materials include: electrolyte preparation acid, antifreeze fluids, fuel, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, lubricants, coolants and various adhesives.
