Inspection and verification

1. Make sure the customer's complaint is valid.

2. Visually inspect for obvious mechanical and electrical problems.

3. Make sure that there is no dirt on the surface of the sensor that could interfere with its operation.

4. If an obvious cause of a problem you identified or described by the customer is found, resolve it before proceeding to the next steps (if possible).

5. Use an approved diagnostic system or scan tool (tester), to retrieve all DTCs before accessing the self-test or DTC index (DTC).

Clear all DTCs after troubleshooting.

On-board self-test

The self-test, which is part of the system strategy, informs the driver of any faults using LEDs and audible signals:

• The system status LED flashes when the system is active and there is a problem with the sensors, speakers, wiring, or module.
• If a rear system speaker malfunction is detected, an error beep will sound from the front system speaker for three seconds.
• If a fault is detected in the rear sensors, the switch built into the LED switch, or in the event of a CAN bus signaling error, an error beep will sound from the rear system speaker for three seconds.
