Removal and installation of the generator 4.4L (Discovery 3)

Removing

1.

WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle standing on only one jack. Always support the vehicle with jack stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery. For more information refer to Specification.

3. Remove the accessory drive belt. For more information refer to Drive Belt Accessories (86.10.03)

4. Remove the front wheel.

5. Remove the mudguard. For more information refer to Fender Mudguard (76.10.48)

6. Remove the generator mudguard. Remove 4 fasteners.



7. Remove the positive battery cable.

• Remove the battery positive cable cover.
• Turn out a fastening nut.
• Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

8. Remove the generator. Turn out 3 bolts.

Installation

1. Install the positive battery cable.

• Connect the positive battery cable.
• Tighten the fastening nut (tightening torque 10 Nm).
• Connect the generator electrical connector.

2. Install the generator. Tighten 3 bolts (tightening torque 48 Nm).

3. Install the generator mudguard.

4. Install mudguard. For more information refer to Fender Mudguard (76.10.48)

5. Install the front wheel. Tighten wheel nuts (tightening torque 140 Nm).

6. Install the accessory drive belt. For more information refer to Drive Belt Accessories (86.10.03)

7. Connect the wire "masses" to the battery. For more information refer to Specification.

8. Lower the car.
