General provisions
The battery, installed in a protective box, is located between the bulkhead and the secondary bulkhead on the passenger side. The battery rests on a platform to which it is attached with clamping bars and bolts.
The cables are attached to the battery terminals by means of clamping terminals. The battery positive terminal is designed with a pyrotechnic device that disconnects the wire in the event of an accident or an airbag threat. All models are equipped with Delphi lead-calcium batteries that require no maintenance. All rechargeable batteries have a similar design and differ in characteristics depending on the application. Vehicles are equipped with batteries in one of two sizes:
- H7 - all models with petrol engines
- H8 - models with TdV6 engines
The battery case is semi-hermetic. Each cell is provided with a vent to compensate for the thermal expansion of the electrolyte and release oxygen and hydrogen, which are formed under certain operating conditions of the battery.
The battery is equipped with a built-in hydrometer with a temperature compensator, which allows you to visually assess the density and level of the electrolyte. Battery status is assessed by the color of the indicator:
- GREEN - battery is well charged and usable
- DARK (transient to BLACK) - low battery charge and need to recharge
- COLORLESS or YELLOW - the battery is not serviceable and must be replaced
Before removing the battery, make sure the car alarm is off and the ignition is off. Always disconnect first "negative" clamp, and then "positive". When installing a battery, always connect first "positive" clamp and then "negative".
If the battery requires recharging, always use a DC charger designed for lead-calcium batteries. DO NOT use quick chargers as this may permanently damage the battery.
Delivery mode
The vehicle is equipped with a transit relay. This is a single use device and is NOT intended for use by the vehicle owner. The relay is connected in series between the battery and «weight» and prevents the battery from discharging during transportation. When selling the car, the relay must be removed.
