Diagnostics
The TPMS module has a diagnostic connection via the medium speed CAN bus, with which it is possible to determine the status and malfunctions of the system using T4.
In addition, the TPMS module OBD continuously monitors the system and warns the driver of system malfunctions by including yellow and red lights, instrument cluster chime, and/or by displaying a message on the instrument cluster.
Fault detection
In the event of a sensor malfunction, the yellow indicator on the instrument panel lights up. Also, message center display shows 'XX Tire Pressure Not Monitored' (tire pressure XX not monitored).
If more than one sensor fails, the TPMS module registers a more significant fault and the yellow indicator lights up. Also, message center display shows 'Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Fault' (tire pressure monitoring system malfunction). Also, the cause of this malfunction may be radio frequency interference that affects the reception of signals by the system. When the interference is cleared, the fault disappears automatically and the TPMS operates normally.
When the tire pressure sensor battery voltage is low, the sensor sends a message to the TPMS module. The module stores low battery voltage information as a symptom and no visual warnings are given. If the battery fails, the sensor stops transmitting information and the TPMS module sends a command to display a message like 'FL Tire Not Being Monitored' on the message center display (the air pressure in the left front tire is not controlled). The dealer should use T4 to determine the status of the TPMS module symptom to determine the cause of the message. If the battery is defective, replace the sensor and clear the stored symptoms using T4. The TPMS module will determine the identity of the new sensor when the vehicle starts moving. If the sensor on the spare wheel is replaced (in the presence of), its identification data must be manually programmed into the module using T4, or use this wheel as "working" for 15 minutes at speeds over 20 km/h, and then remove and put back in place of the spare wheel.
