Removing
NOTE: To avoid seal failure, it is strongly recommended that the valve seal and steel washer be replaced each time the tire is replaced. The seal and washer must also be replaced when the sensor is removed. Removing the sensor mounting nut is regarded as dismantling the sensor itself. The cap must always be on the valve, except when inflating a tire, releasing pressure or checking tire pressure.
1.
WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle standing on only one jack. Always support the vehicle with jack stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel.
3.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the low tire pressure sensor, start removing the tire bead from the wheel rim 180 degrees from the valve.
Remove the tire from the rim.
4.
WARNING: Avoid putting pressure on the valve.
CAUTION: When reinstalling an old low tire pressure sensor, the washer, seal, and nut must be replaced.
Remove the low tire pressure sensor.
- Loosen the nut.
- Release the sensor and remove it parallel to the valve axis.
5. Install a new seal and washer if necessary.
- Remove and discard the old seal and washer.
- Install a new seal and washer, making sure the valve remains fully recessed in its seat.
Installation
1.
CAUTION: Do not use compressed air to clean the sensor. Do not use any solvents or cleaning agents to clean the sensor. Clean the sensor with a dry, clean cloth.
Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
2.
CAUTION: Do not apply any lubricant to the new sensor.
NOTE: If the sensor is replaced with "running" wheel, the new sensor will be identified during the first drive. In case of replacement of the sensor on the spare wheel, the identification code of the new sensor must be programmed into the electronic unit of the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) with T4. The identification code is located on the packaging label of the sensor kit and is also printed on the sheath of each sensor.
Install a low tire pressure sensor.
- Screw on and hand-tighten the nut while holding the sensor stationary.
- tighten the nut (tightening torque 6.5 Nm).
3. Mount the tire and balance the wheel.
4. Install the wheel. Tighten wheel nuts (tightening torque 140 Nm).
