The wiper control switch assembly is located on the right side of the housing and is attached to it with two screws. The switch is connected to the main wiring harness through a connector located on the back of the switch. The switch controls the following functions:
- Intermittent wiper, constant low speed and constant high speed
- One-time windshield cleaning
- Wiping/washing the windshield
- Rear window cleaning/washing
- Selecting the duration of the cycle in intermittent operation of the cleaner

Wiper control switch operation
To activate the windshield wiper functions, the lever is moved up or down. Push the lever down to enable single cleaning. The switch does not lock into this position and the wipers stop when the lever is released and returned to the center position. The switch contact corresponding to the single cleaning mode is wired to the CJB and ground. The same connection to the CJB is used for continuous high speed operation. When the lever is moved, the circuit between the CJB and ground is closed. The CJB senses a closed circuit and turns on the wipers as long as the switch contacts are closed.
To enable intermittent operation, the wiper switch is moved up until it locks. The wipers then operate with the cycle time set using the rotary control on the wiper lever. The wipers continue to operate in intermittent mode until the switch is moved to the off position or continuous low/high speed. A switch contact corresponding to intermittent operation is connected between the CJB and ground. When the switch is moved to the intermittent position, the circuit is closed. The CJB senses a closed circuit and operates the wipers intermittently at the selected cycle time as long as the switch contact is closed.
The duration of the intermittent cycle is determined by the position of the rotary control on the wiper control lever. Using the rotary control, the driver can select one of six cycle times to match the weather conditions. The rotary control has three wires connected to the CJB and one wire to ground. Each of the six positions corresponds to a certain combination of signals in three wires. The CJB detects the selected mode via three wires and turns on the wipers with the appropriate cycle time.
To enable continuous low speed operation, the wiper switch moves up to the second detent position. The wipers operate at low speed until the wiper switch is turned off or set to intermittent or constant high speed. A switch contact corresponding to continuous low speed operation is connected between the CJB and ground. When the switch is moved to the position of continuous operation at low speed, the circuit is closed. The CJB senses a closed circuit and operates the wipers at low speed for as long as the switch contact is closed.
To enable continuous high speed operation, the wiper switch moves up to the third fixed position. The wipers operate at high speed until the wiper switch is turned off or set to intermittent or constant low speed. A switch contact corresponding to continuous high speed operation is connected between the CJB and ground. When the switch is moved to the position of constant high speed operation, the circuit is closed. The CJB senses a closed circuit and turns on the wipers at high speed as long as the switch contact is closed.
Switching on the rear window wiper and washer
To activate the functions of the rear window wiper/washer, the switch is moved to the rear. To turn on the rear window wiper, the switch must be moved back to the first fixed position. The switch contact corresponding to rear window cleaning is connected between the CJB and ground. When the switch is moved to the rear window wipe position, the circuit is closed. The CJB senses a closed circuit and turns on the rear window wiper as long as the switch contact is closed.
To turn on the rear window washer, the switch should be moved to the second position without fixing. Moving the switch to this position closes the circuit between the CJB and ground. The CJB senses a shorted circuit and operates the rear window washer while the switch contact is closed.
