A maintenance-free heating element is integrated into the steering wheel to distribute heat evenly around the steering wheel rim. The heat sensor, also located in the steering wheel rim, is controlled by the steering wheel heater module located under the right steering wheel switch box.
The heating element is activated when the driver presses the switch on the steering wheel. The switch provides an input signal to the steering wheel heater module, which responds to this signal by sending an output signal to the heater element. The heater module uses signals from the heat sensors to control the operation of the heating element, maintaining the surface temperature of the steering wheel at approximately 30°C (86°F).
