Handbrake inspection and check (Discovery 3)

1. Check the customer's complaint.

2. Visually inspect for obvious mechanical and electrical problems.

3. If an obvious cause for a customer-specified or customer-described problem is identified, correct the problem before proceeding to the next step (if possible).

4. Before referring to the symptom table or DTC index, read all DTCs using an approved diagnostic system or scan tool. Clear all DTCs after troubleshooting.

Check for correct cable routing. Make sure the tip (And) cable is correctly connected to the lever (am). Check the condition/wear/contamination of parking brake pads and drums Brake disc (70.12.33) Parking brake pads (70.40.09) Check that the parking brake pads are properly adjusted. Adjustment of blocks and overlays of a parking brake (70.40.11) Check the parking brake actuator module for damage and/or excessive noise during operation. Check for DTCs related to the parking brake actuator module.
