To memorize rear-view mirror adjustments, follow these steps.
- Make sure the ignition switch is in position I or II.
- Perform the memory recall procedure
- Make sure reverse gear is engaged
- Manually set the rearview mirrors to the desired position
- Press and release the 'memory store' button (preservation)
- Press and release the button with the desired memory address number
- The new positions of the rear-view mirrors when reversing will be stored in the memory cell corresponding to the number of the pressed key
After completing this procedure, the mirrors will assume the saved position each time the reverse gear is engaged.
Saving the position of the mirror when the reverse gear is engaged affects only one memory address, the contents of the remaining memory addresses remain unchanged.
To protect against accidental adjustment, the mirror position can only be saved when the mirror position is changed while the reverse gear is engaged. If the user does not set the positions of the mirrors when reversing, then the mirrors will default to the position that is recorded in the memory controller.
Each key can be configured with three personal settings. In each set of settings, you can set three mirror positions when reversing. This corresponds to the nine possible positions of the rear-view mirrors when reversing. Personal memory settings refer to the last three registered keys.
Item name | Spare part number | Description |
A | - | Last registered key |
B | - | Key registered penultimate |
C | - | Key registered to penultimate |
1 | - | Storing the first mirror position for reversing |
2 | - | Storing a second mirror position for reversing |
3 | - | Storing a third mirror position for reversing |
On upgraded vehicles, reverse mirror memory can be activated or deactivated by the driver using the instrument panel user settings menu. Thus, the driver decides for himself whether to use this function or not. For more information, please refer to the Information and Message Center (413-08 Information and Message Center)
Information regarding the status of the mirrors when reversing is transmitted via the local bus (LIN) on both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
If the reverse mirror memory function is disabled (OFF), then all three settings associated with the personal settings stored in the memory will be replaced by the standard mirror positions when reversing.
NOTE: The mirror can only be set to the reverse position if the ignition switch is in position II.
When moving the lever from the reverse position to another position, the mirrors immediately return to their original position (in which they were before the reverse gear was engaged). However, if a request was made to restore the settings stored in the memory while the reverse gear was engaged, when the lever is switched from the reverse position to another position, the mirrors will return to the position recalled from the memory.
On vehicles equipped with a ZF automatic transmission, there is a half-second delay after reverse gear is engaged and before the mirror moves. This is necessary to prevent the mirrors from moving when the gear selector is shifted through the reverse position to the parking position.
