Diagnostics and check of rear-view mirrors (Discovery 3)

Review

The operation of the mirror is controlled by three different modules. These are the automatic temperature control module, the body control module and the seat memory module.

Mirror heating is controlled by the automatic temperature control module, so some DTCs (DTC) match the codes for the climate control system.

Inspection and verification

1. Make sure the customer's complaint is valid.

2. Visually inspect for obvious mechanical and electrical problems.

3. If there is an obvious cause for the problem you identified or the customer described, fix it before proceeding with the next steps (if possible).


4. Use an approved diagnostic system or scan tool (tester), to retrieve all DTCs before referring to the Symptom Table DTC Index (DTC).

Since DTCs are stored in more than one module, a complete vehicle data readout is recommended.

Clear all DTCs after troubleshooting.

B1B8587	Memory module	Seat memory module not responding	The seat settings memory module is not installed on all modifications (custom installation). Failure logging is prohibited by the CCF file, but misconfiguration of the CCF file can log a DTC by mistake. Repair is only required for vehicles with a sunroof. See status description if necessary "Communication loss" at the beginning of this table.
