Review
The operation of the mirror is controlled by three different modules. These are the automatic temperature control module, the body control module and the seat memory module.
Mirror heating is controlled by the automatic temperature control module, so some DTCs (DTC) match the codes for the climate control system.
Information about mirrors and how they work can be found in the appropriate section of the workshop manual.
Inspection and verification
1. Make sure the customer's complaint is valid.
2. Visually inspect for obvious mechanical and electrical problems.
Mechanical factors | Electrical Factors |
3. If there is an obvious cause for the problem you identified or the customer described, fix it before proceeding with the next steps (if possible).
4. Use an approved diagnostic system or scan tool (tester), to retrieve all DTCs before referring to the Symptom Table DTC Index (DTC).
Since DTCs are stored in more than one module, a complete vehicle data readout is recommended.
Clear all DTCs after troubleshooting.
Symptom | Possible reasons | Actions |
The ice is not removed from the windows / washer nozzles freeze | Check fuses. Check the operation of the heating relay for washer nozzles and mirrors (see visual inspection table). Check the electrical circuits for heating the washer nozzles and mirrors. Refer to the electrical manual. If a module is suspected, refer to the warranty policy and procedures manual.
Mirrors do not turn in one or more directions | Press the mirror switch and listen to the sound of the electric motor (to her). If you hear the sound of an electric motor (to her), check the mechanical elements of the mirror and the linkages. Repair if necessary. Check for DTCs that indicate a switch, motor, or circuit failure.
The stored mirror position is not restored. | Before assuming memory failure, test switch operation and refer to the symptoms described above. Make sure there is sufficient battery voltage. Make sure the desired position is correctly memorized. Make sure that the memorization/restoration of the memorized position is carried out correctly. Refer to the relevant section in the workshop manual.
Function not working "Lazy entry" | Check if the remote transmitter controls the central lock, etc. If so, the problem is not with the transmitter. Refer to section "The memorized position is not restored" |
DTC index
NOTE: Universal Scan Tools cannot read the listed codes or can only read 5-digit codes. Match the 5 digits from the scan tool with the first 5 digits of the listed 7 digit code to identify the problem (the last 2 digits give additional information read by the diagnostic system approved by the manufacturer).
NOTE: See Section 412-00 for a complete list of climate control DTCs "Climate control system" manuals for service stations.
DTCs | Description | Possible reasons | Actions |
B1B8541 | Memory module | Error in seat module | Replace the Seat Memory Module If in doubt about the functionality of the module, refer to the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual. |
B1B8549 | Memory module | Error in seat module | If there is no customer complaint about seat operation, no action is required, clear/ignore the DTC. If this affects the operation of the seat, replace the module. If there is any doubt about the functionality of the module, refer to the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual. |
B1B8587 | Memory module | Seat memory module not responding | The seat settings memory module is not installed on all modifications (custom installation). Failure logging is prohibited by the CCF file, but misconfiguration of the CCF file can log a DTC by mistake. Repair is only required for vehicles with a sunroof. See status description if necessary "Communication loss" at the beginning of this table. |
