Removing
1. Remove the shift lever.

The letter A stands for the old selector shaft stop. The letter B indicates the new selector shaft stop.

CAUTION: Make sure the surface around the element is clean.
Using the special tools, remove the selector shaft retainer.

NOTE: If the selector shaft stops are of the new type as shown, removing the stop will require drilling a 5.5mm diameter hole in the center of the stopper approximately 3mm deep to punch through the stopper housing. Then insert an M6 bolt through tool 308615 into the stopper and remove the stopper using the appropriate special tool.
NOTE: The legacy stoppers shown in the illustration do not require drilling. To remove the stopper, use the special tool shown in the figure.
Using the special tools, remove the selector shaft retainer.

CAUTION: Make sure the surface around the element is clean.
Using the appropriate special tools, remove the selector shaft retainer.
7. Having removed the stoppers 1, 2 and reverse gear from the selector rack, the shafts should be centered in the neutral position as shown in the figure. To do this, look into the holes from under the stoppers in the casting.
- The shafts can be centered by carefully moving the selector to the middle position using a suitable flathead screwdriver.
- After centering the shafts, check the possibility of engaging 3rd and 4th gears and transverse movement of the lever.
Installation
1.
CAUTION: New selector shaft stops must be installed flush with the gearbox housing.
Using suitable tools, install the selector shaft stops.
2.
CAUTION: Make sure the component is fully recessed into the crankcase.
Using suitable tools, install the selector shaft stop.
3. Install the shift lever.
