Removal and installation of the generator (Defender 2007+)

Removing

1. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery.

For more information, see the chapter: Disconnecting and connecting the battery (414-01 Battery, Battery Mount and Wires, General Procedures).

2. Remove the accessory drive belt.

3. Remove the air filter outlet pipe.

NOTE: The alternator top bolt can only be removed when the alternator is free from the accessory drive component bracket.

Release the generator. Turn out 3 bolts.



5. Disconnect the electrical connector of the generator.



6. Disconnect the generator.

• Remove the battery positive cable nut.
• Disconnect the positive cable from the battery.

Installation

1. Replace the elements in reverse order.

2. Tighten (tightening torque 8 Nm).



3. Tighten (tightening torque 48 Nm).
